United Airlines emphasized the possibilities of its new Bluetooth-enabled planes and revealed plans to expand in-flight connection throughout the majority of its fleet over the next several years.
As part of United Next, the carrier's goal to update and extend its fleet, the airline now has Bluetooth connectivity on more than 100 flights and plans to expand the service to about 800 planes by 2032.
When using AirPods Pro, passengers may connect to the carrier's new seatback displays as well as access other revolutionary capabilities such as Conversation Awareness and Adaptive Audio.
"United was the first U.S. airline to roll out Bluetooth connectivity, and when we saw Apple's new AirPods characteristics, we knew it could be a game changer for our clients and our employees," said the chief information officer of United Airlines.
Conversation Awareness, which is now available for all AirPods Pro, decreases the volume when the user begins speaking, making it simpler to communicate with a flight attendant while ordering food and beverages.
Adaptive Audio is a novel listening mode that combines Transparency mode with Active Noise Cancellation to alter noise control based on the sound in the user's environment.
"People want to stay linked while they're in the air, yet there's also a lot of interactions between our flight attendants and customers - the technological mix of wireless connectivity, Conversation Awareness & Adaptive Audio result in a great experience for everyone," he added.
To connect to the Bluetooth system on United's new and renovated flights, customers choose the Bluetooth icon near the bottom of the seatback screen display, link their devices, select their headphones from the list, and enjoy whatever content they want.
