When media asked about Angel Reese's persistent absence, LSU women's basketball head coach Kim Mulkey told them they don't deserve an explanation.
The Tigers won 106-47 over Texas Southern on Monday to go 6-1. Aneesah Morrow and Flau'jae Johnson led LSU with 17 points each to win at Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
Monday night's game was Reese's second absence. Since being benched at halftime against Kent State on Nov. 14, the 21-year-old has missed games against Southeastern Louisiana and Texas Southern in the past week.
Reese's absence was discussed at Mulkey's Monday night postgame news conference. LSU's head coach wouldn't explain her top player's absence.
You constantly have locker room troubles. Coaches do that "Mulkey told reporters Monday.
"I've never been problem-free in 40 years. Exactly what coaches do. You know them sometimes, not always. You sometimes want more than you're entitled to.
"I'll guard my players. Always. Like a family. Do you think we should know if you discipline your kids? A family in the locker room."
The Cayman Islands will host LSU's doubleheader versus Niagara and Virginia this week. Mulkey was also questioned if Reese will be on the roster for those games.
