Lainey Wilson emerged victorious in the 2023 CMA Awards with nine nominations and five wins. Two victories included HARDY.
Wilson and HARDY won Music Video and Musical Event of the Year for “Wait in the Truck.” Working together made the two artists friends, but they are not as close as their mothers.
On Audacy's Mo & StyckMan PLUS before the CMA Awards, Wilson, the new CMA Entertainer of the Year, discussed her and HARDY's tight relationship with their mothers.
In the conversation, the hosts told Wilson that HARDY considers her a “sister” after working together. The Louisiana native remarked, “First of all, I'm just so proud of him.” “Our mamas—my mama and his mama—are like best friends.”
Wilson then highlighted how close country stars' moms are. I entered the other day to find my mama on the phone acquiring a recipe. ‘Who was that?’ “Oh, that's Mama HARDY,” she said.
Wilson added that she and her fellow CMA winner aren't close. “HARDY and I don’t talk like that! “I’ll see ya when I see ya, brother.”
Wilson briefly mentioned her and her team's recent hard work. Busting our tail. That's the kindest way to describe it, she said. At least 185 shows this year and last. About 400 shows in the past two years.”
Wilson isn't complaining about the effort. “These are the moments we prayed for. Now they’re here.”
Wilson won't relax in 2024. Her tour begins in Melbourne, Australia in March. Her tour of Australia and Europe ends in May. On May 31, she begins her Country's Cool Again North American Tour in Nashville for two nights. This tour ends in November with two nights in Monroe, Louisiana.
