LSU coach Kim Mulkey's player conflict history, from Brittney Griner to Angel Reese

Recent controversy in LSU women's basketball has raised doubts about head coach Kim Mulkey's relationship with players.

Mulkey, one of the most successful NCAA coaches, has been controversial since Baylor. Over the previous two decades, she has feuded with the media and lost touch with Brittney Griner, one of her biggest talents.

Mulkey and LSU standout Angel Reese are apparently at odds. A season-opening loss and Reese's mysterious absence have sparked dispute rumors.

Since Reese's unexpected departure and Mulkey's comments regarding older players after a season-opening defeat to Colorado, their relationship at LSU has been questioned this week.

"I chose LSU and Kim Mulkey because of the winning culture," Reese remarked in 2022. "I trust Coach Kim and her colleagues to help me become a better player. Her resume speaks for itself, and I want to continue it at LSU."

Mulkey's best player, Griner, led Baylor to a national title in 2011-12 with outrageous numbers. Griner averaged 22.2 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 5.1 blocks in college.

She was four-time All-American/All-Conference. Two-time Wooden, AP Player of the Year, and Naismith Award winner is 6-foot-8. She was named NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player for Baylor's championship run.
