LSU women's basketball makes Angel Reese ban decision as star left home

Due to her benching in the second half of a win over Kent State on Tuesday, LSU women's basketball star Angel Reese stayed home for Friday's game against Southeastern Louisiana.

Coach Kim Mulkey stated, "You want me to explain why [she wasn't here]?" after LSU's 73-50 win over Southeastern Louisiana.

Angel was clearly not uniformed. This basketball squad has Angel, so we expect to see her soon. I'm done answering. End of story. All you need to know.”

After sitting Reese earlier in the week, Mulkey called it a "coach's decision" and hinted at drama she couldn't reveal. Mulkey avoided queries regarding the forward's suspension before the Southeastern Louisiana game.

Reese hasn't commented on her benching or why she missed Friday's game. She praised her LSU teammates on Instagram after the Kent State win.

The Tigers' 2023-24 season has started poorly. Mulkey publicly questioned the team's leaders after losing their opener versus Colorado. Only Mikaylah Williams and Sa'Myah Smith had played well, she asserted in her rant, not Reese.

LSU has struggled to recruit women's basketball, missing out on Me'Arah O'Neal and Joyce Edwards. These players joined Florida and South Carolina.
