UConn women's basketball players 'all angry' after harsh reality check

The UConn women's basketball team suffered a humiliating 92-81 loss against then-unranked NC State over the weekend, and several players were open about their dissatisfaction.

Players appeared to be more agitated than head coach Geno Auriemma, who is frequently the most severe individual in the room.

Guard Nika Muhl added, "We were terrible. We were awful. And all they wanted was to keep winning. That left me feeling really let down. Speaking from experience,

I've played in a number of those games throughout my time at UConn. Thus, this is just another lesson that we need to learn. We need to stop talking about changing and start doing so."

However, Auriemma told reporters he might accept the NC State defeat if the players' subsequent actions led to meaningful improvement.

He arranged a demanding non-conference schedule in order to motivate his team prior to the start of Big East play.

The Huskies' situation won't get any easier anytime soon. They play No. 3 UCLA on Nov. 24, No. 11 Texas on Dec. 3, No. 17 North Carolina on Dec. 10, and No. 20 Maryland on Thursday.
